Strange Dreams

I recently woke up after the most vivid of dreams, or maybe even nightmare.
My girlfriend and I were attending a lunch at a small town pub with who I beleive may have been some family members and friends. The pub had a very eerie feel to it, as if there was something unspoken happening, that foreigners would never be able to pick up on.
After our meal, something happened that caused us to venture into the next room further inside this creepy pub. Shady, bearded characters lined the various stools and small round high tables against the walls. There were a pair of old pool tables in the centre of the crowded room. They were covered in a dim green glow emitted from overhanging lights, held from the roof by chains.
As is common with most dreams, the next few events are unclear to my memory. Apart from the feeling of being highly uncomfortable. The bartender had somehow gained possession of my wallet and mobile phone. As well as my girlfriends handbag. The room full of people seemed to push in on us. The bartender took our licenses/identification and placed them in one of those juice mixer/dispenser units you see swirling away in the corner of 7/11 convenience stores. I looked over and to my horror, through the orange mist of the juice, I could see hundreds of licenses lying on the bottom.
Again unsure what happened next, but we seemed to break free and retrieve our ID's. We made a dash for the door, stumbling around tables, sending drinks flying across the room. We could hear the yells of an angry mob behind us as we burst out the double door and onto the street pavement. We raced around the corner, holding hands, hoping to make it to the car to getaway.
As my car came into view, I stopped in horror, as I took in the scene in front of me. Somehow, another car had been lifted and dropped from a considerable height, right onto my car, crushing it. There was no way we would be getting out of here.
Next moment, I heard the yells of the mob coming around the corner for us.
Then I awoke...

Brand Association...

Anyone that knows me, will know that I am a big fan of the following:

  • Android
  • Google
  • HTC
  • Linux/Ubuntu
Isn't it funny how people associate themselves with certain brands or products and defend them against all others till the death? This brand or item may not have done anything for us to help us in our life, in fact it may have cost us, yet we still defend it. We are all guilty of, hell I know I do it everyday!

Im a big believer/user of open-source technology. For those that dont know what open-source refers to, it basically means that the creator of a program or idea releases the source code (the basis) freely to the public for everyone to share and modify however they see fit.

For instance, i use the derivative of the Linux operating system known as Ubuntu on both my PC and Laptop instead of Microsoft Windows.

Nearly every program or tool you will ever need to use on a computer, is free to download and install on a Linux OS. No subscriptions, CD-Keys, Validations, CD's or DVD's. Everything is contained on an online library called a repository, which can be accessed anytime through the system settings and programs can be downloaded.

I have had a Gmail acount since it was in beta nearly 10 years ago. I use Google search as my default search engine. So naturally when it came to choosing a mobile phone, I went for one sporting the Linux-based Google mobile OS known as Android. As a long-term HTC fan, I went for the HTC Desire.

True to its origin, Android has quickly become a programmer/modders fantasy and many alternate versions of original phone ROM's have appeared all over the internet. I currently run the Cyanogenmod 7.1.0RC-1 on my Desire. It offers many tweaks over the original HTC ROM, which makes it quicker and easier to use and more customizable.

I like to think that I support these brands as they are more superior to others on the market. In many cases they are. But it really comes down to user preference and what people like. I like Google/Linux/Android mainly due to the fully open and free nature of their products.

My First Blog

Blogs. I've never really seen the need to blog anything before. I guess, I still don't really see the need to blog anything now...

To be honest, I actually stumbled across this while looking through a bunch of Google apps while i was bored. I have often thought "why would anyone want to read a bunch of ramblings by another person anyway?". But, I realised, we read other peoples ramblings all day everyday, whether we mean to or not. Reading a newspaper column, listening to an advertisement on the radio, watching 60 Minutes or A Current Affair on television, we are basically taking in all the ramblings, beliefs or opinions of other people.

So I figured, if everyone else can say what they want, why not me? :-D
